Similarly focused on capacity-building, the PESCO Program, which centers on the Cerrado grassland biome, offers support for undergraduate or post-graduate research on one or more of the small projects sponsored by PPP-ECOS, generating reviews of PPP-ECOS experiences and/or addressing the concrete research needs of the initiatives the Program supports.
The Eco-social Small Projects Program (PPP-ECOS) has been running since 1994 under the coordination of the ISPN – Instituto Sociedade, População e Natureza (Society, Population and Nature Institute). Over its twelve-year existence it has granted 235 small donations to non-governmental and community organizations for activities connected with the conservation and sustainable use of Cerrado grassland biodiversity. Experiences include the areas of wildlife, beekeeping, agro-extractivism, medicinal plants, arts and crafts, and fruit processing, among others.
To date, PESCO has awarded 14 grants, six for undergraduate and eight for post-graduate studies.
A partir do ano 2000, o Instituto iniciou um trabalho voltado à organização e publicação de títulos de relevância para a área socioambiental, que dificilmente encontrariam outros canais para a sua publicação e difusão.
