IIEB - Instituto Internacional de Educação do Brasil

Starting in 2000, the institute began organizing and publishing titles of socio-environmental relevance that would probably otherwise not be published and distributed. While this was initially designed to complement the programs, IEB now has an array of publications on various aspects within its sphere of activity. The institute’s aim is to make this knowledge circulate round universities, educational institutions, NGOs, trade associations/unions and social movements in order to nurture a more informed discussion on socio-environmental themes.

This line of action has contributed toward the fulfillment of the IEB’s mission and helped reaffirm its scientific, socio-political and educational goals.

Partnership

To make this possible, IEB formed a partnership with Editora Peirópolis and non-governmental organizations that has resulted in a series of 30 published titles by 2006. Some of these publications have been adopted as references by universities nationwide, and feature in both undergraduate and post-graduate reading lists.

Next steps

All income from the sale of IEB books and institutional materials is invested in the Publications Fund, which, once it is adequately funded, will then be used to bankroll the publication of new titles.
